Make a Huge House in Minecraft
Huge houses take lots of time and effort, and they require lots of materials the more elaborate they are. This will show you how to make a big house!

[hide]Steps
Huge house #1
- Make a huge base for the house ( 20 x 30 blocks). Mark this frame with a material of your choice.
- Create the wall about 10 blocks high. Do this for all walls of the house.
- Cover the top of your house with a roof. There are two types of roofs:
- A flat one, just connect all the walls
- A pointed one. Put steps one step higher until both sides come together. Fill in remaining gaps.
- Make doors for any gaps so mobs won't come in your house. Double doors are recommended as they look nicer but aren't necessary.
- If you are on hard difficulty it is highly recommended that you have iron doors so zombies don't break in your house. Build a bunker, just in case.
- Place torches in your house for some light. If you have made a nether portal you can use glowstone.
- Place torches outside your house to prevent aggressive mob spawning. Again you can use glowstone or jack-o-lanterns if you wish.
- Create 2x2 holes in the front of your house. Fill the holes in with glass for windows. To make glass you smelt sand in a furnace
- Or, you could put no glass in them and snipe at far away mobs from the window.
- Dig out the space on your floor and replace it with any nice block you would like. Brick and wool are two ideas, but hard to find, so pick whatever you find fancy. In creative mode, you have wool right on your fingertips, so take advantage of that.
- Put a crafting table, large chest, 2 furnaces, and a bed. This will complete your house. If you want you can make chairs by putting steps and sign on either side of the step.
Huge house #2
- Make a huge outline with 30 X 30 blocks.
- Build the wall (using any block you want) 15 blocks high.
- Make the roof. It looks best with stairs but it's your choice.
- Make the floor. Use oak wood planks with wool carpets.
- Put in double doors. This helps it to look better.
- Add really big windows. Add a few small ones too, for variety.
- Add as many floors as you want.
- Decorate in any way you like. Keep expanding the house as you play.
Tips
- Make sure to flatten the potential house-site's terrain first, if needed!
- You can add leaves you get by shears to make shrubs around your house.
- Beside the doors put glowstone, torches, or jack-o-lanterns on the outside, if you wish.
- Use a pre-written method for making a house. You can buy Minecraft books such as the Minecraft Construction Handbook. They contain step-by-step instructions on how to make a good looking house, garden etc etc.
- Try not to use flammable materials. You don't want all that work going down the drain.
- To make a jack-o-lantern, create a crafting table and get a pumpkin. Then, put a torch and the pumpkin in the crafting grid.
- Glowstone can only be obtained in the Nether, if you are playing Survival Mode.
- Put lots of lights in your house so you can see better. After all, you don't want to get lost.
- Try making a fireplace for decoration.
- You can make a porch if you want, but remember to place torches and fences to keep mobs away.
- Make a watch tower so you can snipe or watch mobs.
- Any dirt in your house is not recommended unless it is what you want.
- If you have a furniture mod, use it to furnish your house. If not stack blocks to resemble furniture.
- Try mixing different kinds of wood logs, planks, stars, have balconies and different rooms like an actual house.
- Don't make it all out of cobblestone. Be unique with your homes.
- On both ends on the roof, put holes 6x6 and put glass there, and in the middle put two holes and put glass in them.
- Make it with a fire resistant object such as cobblestone.
