Make a Mushroom House in Minecraft

Mushroom houses are comfortable houses. These unique houses are quick to make, so give it a try sometime.

Steps

  1. Get a red mushroom and bonemeal. Find a mushroom in dark places. Get bonemeal by placing one bone on the crafting grid.
  2. Use the bonemeal on a red mushroom on the ground. The size for grown red mushroom are: 5x5x6.
  3. Get some ladders. Attach the ladders on 3 blocks of the trunk, closest to the ground.
  4. Build the floor. Use any material to cover the inside of the mushroom. Light up the inside with a torch.
  5. Place a bed on the inside, and a crafting bench.

Tips

  • If you destroy a giant mushroom, it will give you tons of regular mushrooms to plant and make more houses.
  • Mushrooms can be a good hiding hole for a quick home.
  • Place another mushroom on top for another floor to your mushroom house.
  • A trap door will block skeletons from shooting at you.
  • A brown mushroom house is bigger, but more work.
  • Mushroom houses are compact so have a separate building for crafting and storage.
  • Windows make it brighter and gives you better defense.
  • The easiest way to find mushrooms is to look underground, under trees, and in a mushroom biome.
  • A mushroom house will be in the shade unless placed on a mycelium block.
  • They require a 7×7×6 to 7×7×8 space to grow depending on their height, not counting any spaces occupied by torches, ladders, etc.
  • Look for roofed forest biomes. There's many large generated mushrooms in this biome.

Warnings

  • You can not replace mushroom blocks.
  • Don't use a brown mushroom unless you are prepared to do more work.
