- Juice from 1/2 a lemon
- Mint leaves, fresh
- Ice cubes
- Superfine or caster sugar, to taste
Strawberry and Kool-Aid Slushie

- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 1/2 cups lemonade, or sufficient to blend to slushy consistency; if preferred use juice or water
- 2 cups ice
Steps
Making a Fresh Strawberry Slushie
- Prepare the strawberries. Remove the leaves from each strawberry. Clean them as needed.
- Place the strawberries into the blender. Add a few ice cubes.
- Pour in the lemon juice. Add sufficient water to cover the strawberries and cubes.
- Drop in the mint leaves. Blend all the ingredients to combine. Taste a little, then sweeten to taste with the sugar.
- Fill a pitcher or jug halfway with ice cubes.
- Pour the blended slushie into the pitcher or jug. Stir with a long-handled spoon.
- Serve immediately.
Making a Strawberry and Kool-Aid Slushie
- Pour mixed ingredients into an ice cream maker.
- Stir occasionally until slushed.
- Skip step one if you don't have an ice cream maker. Instead, mix ingredients in a bowl and put in the freezer.
- Serve. Fill glass half full with slush and fill rest of way with 7-Up (fizzy lemonade).
Making a Strawberry and Honey Slushie
- Prepare the strawberries. Hull them and clean them by gentle washing.
- Add the strawberries to the blender.
- Pour in the lemonade (or other liquid of choice). Add the honey.
- Blend to combine for about one minute. When you can see that the honey has been completely combined, add the ice.
- Blend the ice in. Finish blending when it looks like a slushie.
- Taste. Add more sweetener to taste if needed.
- Serve immediately. Pour into chilled glasses and garnish with a mint leaf or strawberry half.
Tips
- If available, try using an electric ice cream machine, if you don't want to spend time stirring.
