Reactivate Your Facebook Account

To reactivate a deactivated Facebook account, all you need to do is sign into Facebook on either a mobile device or the desktop site; you may also need to reset your password if you've forgotten it. In the event that Facebook disabled your Facebook account and you believe it was done in error, you can fill out an appeal form.

Steps

Reactivating Your Account (Mobile)

  1. Open your "Facebook" app.
  2. Enter your email address and password. You can also enter a phone number here in lieu of an email address.
  3. Tap Log In.
  4. Review your account. You should have access to Facebook again!

Reactivating Your Account (Desktop)

  1. Navigate to Facebook.
  2. Enter your email address and password. You can also enter a phone number instead of your email address.
  3. Click Log In.
  4. Review your account. You should now be back on Facebook!

Resetting a Forgotten Password (iOS)

  1. Open your Facebook app.
  2. Tap "Need Help?".
  3. Tap Forgot Password?.
  4. Type in your name, email address, or phone number. Make sure you have access to whichever medium of communication you choose.
  5. Tap Search.
  6. Tap Continue.
  7. Check your chosen medium of communication for a code. For example, if you listed your phone number, you should get a text with a code.[1]
    • If you opt for email, check your Spam folder.
  8. Type your code into the "Enter Code" field.
  9. Tap Continue.
  10. Tap Continue again. You can also choose to log out of your account on all devices if you think your account has been maliciously appropriated.
  11. Type in a new password.
  12. Tap Continue. Your password has successfully been reset!

Resetting a Forgotten Password (Android)

  1. Open your Facebook app.
  2. Tap Forgot Password?.
  3. Type in your name, email address, or phone number. Make sure you have access to whichever medium of communication you choose.
  4. Tap Go.
  5. Tap Continue.
  6. Check your chosen medium of communication for a code. For example, if you listed your phone number, you should get a text with a code.
    • If you chose email, be sure to check your Spam folder.
  7. Type your code into the "Enter Code" field.
  8. Tap Continue.
  9. Tap Continue again. You can also choose to log out of your account on all devices if you think your account has been maliciously appropriated.
  10. Type in a new password.
  11. Tap Continue. Your password has successfully been reset!

Resetting a Forgotten Password (Desktop)

  1. Navigate to Facebook.
  2. Click "Forgot Account?".
  3. Type in your name, email address, or phone number. Make sure you can access whichever platform you choose to go with.
  4. Hit Enter.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Check your chosen medium of communication for a code. For example, if you listed your phone number, you should get a text with a code.
    • If you choose email, check your Spam folder.
  7. Type your code into the "Enter Code" field.
  8. Click Continue.
  9. Type in a new password.
  10. Click Continue. Your password has successfully been reset!

Tips

  • Rather than deactivating your account for a short period of time, you can simply log out on your computer and all of your mobile devices.

Warnings

  • If you no longer have access to your phone number, email address, username, and Facebook-registered full name, you may have to create a new account.
