Recover a Disabled Facebook Account

Are you trying to recover an old Facebook account? If you deactivated your account yourself and just want to get it back, you can do so in just a few clicks. If your account was disabled by Facebook, then the process is a bit more complicated. If you'd like to recover your old Facebook account for either reason, just follow these steps.

Steps

Recovering an Account that You Deactivated Yourself

  1. Go to facebook.com.
  2. Type in your email address and Facebook password. Make sure to use the same email address you used to sign up for Facebook. Type in your old password. If you haven't been on Facebook for so long that you've forgotten your password, just click on "Forgotten your password?" and follow the cues.
  3. Click "Log in." This will recover your old account.
  4. Reacquaint yourself with the updated privacy settings (optional). If you've been off Facebook for a while, click on "privacy settings" or "privacy guide" to read about the updates in privacy settings so that you're well-informed as you re-enter the Facebook world.

Recovering an Account that was Disabled by Facebook

  1. Understand if your account was disabled by Facebook. If your account was disabled, you will see a disabled message when you log in. If you don't see the message, then you're probably just having an issue with logging in.[1]
  2. Understand why your account might have been disabled. Facebook has the right to disable your account after you continue to violate the Facebook terms. These include continuing prohibited behavior after receiving multiple warnings from Facebook, unsolicited contact with others for harassment, advertising, or other inappropriate reasons, impersonation, or posting content that violates Facebook terms.
