Contents
Steps
- Open MSN Messenger/Windows Live Messenger.
- Go to the options window, by selecting your name at the top of the main window, and choosing options at the bottom of the list.
- Select the Messages tab.
- Look down the window until you find the Message History section.
- Select the Automatically keep a record of my conversations checkbox, and, if desired, you can also select the Show my last conversation in new conversation windows one. #Check that the path below the check boxes is the place where you want to save your message history, and change it by clicking the Browse/Change button if it is incorrect.
- Click the OK button at the bottom of the window. Your messages will now be saved! You can change these options at any time by coming back to the options window and apply it immediately.
Tips
- These steps should also work for MSN Messenger with a bit of tweaking. *At the end, you can click the Apply button instead of OK if you prefer. This will allow you to continue changing options.
Warnings
- If you save the messages in a shared folder, people who share your computer will be able to view the conversations you had with other people, so keep them in a folder which is nice and deep in your files. *Don't change any other options if you don't know what they do.
