Sell Second Hand Bikes in India

The bike is one of the most valuable asset than an Indian buys in his lifetime. Unfortunately the second hand bikes market in India is not developed enough and bike owners find a lot of issues in trying to get the right value for their used bike.

Steps

  1. Make up your mind. More often than not many owners of second hand bike make the mistake of going into the mind without being sure if they really want to sell the bike. It is easier for the dealer to talk you into a deal that you did not need. So always make sure to think calmly, logically and decide to sell your bike before you go to the market.
  2. Have a minimum price and nice to have price in your mind. Do your homework. Figure out what is the price of similar bikes in the second hand market. Compare different websites that offer similar or the same product. Adjust your expected price for any specific issues that your bike may have. A bike having a dent or broken mirror tends to fetch lower price.
  3. Get your paperwork ready. Get the registration paper, fitness certificate, pollution certificate and insurance paper ready. They will make the decision making process of any potential buyer too easy.
  4. Get as many potential buyers as possible. Get your bike listed on local classifieds. There are lots of local classified sites and newspapers in India where you can get premium listing for less than 20 $.
  5. List your article on specialized sites as well. Make sure to list the page on the correct page of the site.
  6. Behave in a manner that will give confidence to potential buyers. Respond to their emails and give out as much information as you can.

Tips

  • Clean the bike as well as possible. Gives a real boost to the final sales price.
  • Stay away from bike dealers as much as you can. They take too high a cut from the sales amount.
