Side Skid on a Bike

A side skid is where you skid the back tire of your bike. Follow these easy steps to do a side skid.

Steps

  1. Make sure your bike is in good condition. Your tires should be pumped to the required amount and the tire should not have wear or tear. Your brakes should be in working condition. You should have all your spokes. If you are missing any of these, do not try this!
  2. Gain a moderate speed.
  3. Lean forwards and lean as if you are going to turn.
  4. Put your inside leg out and pull the rear brake hard. (do not use the front brake, you will possibly fly over the handlebars!)
  5. To complete the turn safely, put the foot from step 4 on the floor.
  6. Practice! Practice this trick on every slightly downward slope.

Tips

  • Be sure to wear a helmet!
  • If you're a beginner, try this trick on sand, as it gives you something soft to land on if you fall.

Warnings

  • Do Not do this in wet area's as you will fall off and may hurt yourself, especially on the road.
  • Make sure you are missing no spokes and you have brakes
