Type a Different Language on Windows XP
You can easily type a different language on Windows XP without getting a new operating system. You just have to know how to change your keyboard to accommodate the new language. And don't worry -- you can switch over to the original language you've been using at any time.
Steps
- Go to Start → Control Panel → Regional and Language Options → Add other languages.
- Note that, in the lower box, you need to check the check box next to the words "Install files for East Asian Languages".
- Hit the "Details" button in the upper box.
- Keep in mind that, on the right of the list of languages you have on your computer, you should now click "Add..."
- Choose your language and hit "OK".
- Select "Apply" (this is the first window that you opened).
Tips
- During the process, you may need to insert the XP CD so the relevant files can be copied across to your computer.
- A typical Windows XP CD will have a folder on the disk called "i386". This entire folder can be copied to the hard drive and then can be referenced for anything needing the Windows XP Disk. When a program asks you for the CD, select the path on the hard drive where you copied this folder to.
