Wheelie a 250 2 Stroke

Follow these steps to learn to wheelie a 250 2-stroke dirt bike.

Steps

  1. Accelerate in a low gear until you reach the beginning of the power band.
  2. Begin the wheelie:
    • Bounce down hard on the handlebars and foot pegs to make the suspension rebound.
    • Pull up a bit on the handlebars to shift your weight back.
    • Pop the clutch and goose the throttle a bit as the suspension is rebounding. Be careful not to give the bike too much throttle or you may flip the bike over backwards.
  3. Control the wheeling by adding more or less throttle throttle while pulling back on the bars. If you find yourself going to high you can quickly bring the wheelie down by using the back brake and reducing the throttle.
  4. To ease it you can use the front brakes which make it less hard to concentrate on the handling after it.

Tips

  • Once the front wheel is off the ground, a little throttle goes a long way.
  • Practice these at slow speeds until you get more comfortable. You will almost certainly crash a few times while learning, and it's better to do this at lower speeds.
  • Do not try this on pavement when you are learning because you won't be so happy when you and your bike are messed up. Go into a grassy meadow, or a sandy pit; that's where you should learn to handle your bike first anyhow. definitely rev into the lower rpms when learning.

Warnings

  • Don't take a huge handful of throttle! 2-stroke motorcycles have a lot of power and are easy to flip.
  • Be sure to wear a helmet and protective gear (gloves, boots, and jacket) when doing this.
