Steps
- Be more assertive. You may have to be the leader for a little while, because most guys don't want to get themselves together just for you. So don't act uncomfortable or awkward--you'd better be pretty easygoing and comfortable if you're going to make this work.
- Have a normal conversation with him about topics that don't involve personal questions and girlfriend issues. Humor and physical contact also help people get more comfortable around each other.
- Avoid clinging. If he doesn't like you, for your sake and his, drop it. It will make you seem desperate, and will only make the guy feel more awkward. So if you ask him why he doesn't talk to you and he brings up a lame excuse then that's a clue that he doesn't really like you.
- Move on if it doesn't work out. There are upwards of 3 billion guys out there, so the odds are in your favor.
- Avoid discussing topics such as menstruation, sex etc.
- Don't give him too much attention - Don't expect him to lead the conversation, because he'll get bored. If it gets quiet, just talk about anything that comes to mind.
- Don't pay too little attention to him either. If you're with other friends, make sure to include him in what you're doing. Don't pay too much attention to him but don't ignore him either. A healthy balance will put him at ease. The best way to do this is by just acting normal.
Tips
- If he tries to talk to you, DON'T freeze up and avoid eye contact. Just relax, and remember that he's a human being too.
- Don't talk about the first thing that comes to mind. Think before you speak.
- Be comfortable.
- BE YOURSELF.
- Go easy on him if he isn't overly self confident.
- Have fun with it.
- Take the hints.
- If he doesn't like you, then get over him.
- If you make the effort and try to tons of times and he doesn't put any in just ignore him and move on if he doesn't know why you're not talking anymore and starts up the conversation just speak when he asks a question.
- Most guys don't really pick up on when you make a mistake, so if you do just try and laugh it off normally. Don't laugh AT him, laugh WITH him. Odds are he'll probably do the same thing to you.
- Don't ask him personal questions about his last girlfriend.
Warnings
- If you know he has no interest in you, then don't tell your friend to ask him why he still won't talk to you! You will still get a negative answer and it will make him feel even more awkward the next time he'll see you.
- Don't be a stalker.
- A guy may act awkwardly around you because he doesn't like you, not because he doesn't know what to do.
- Don't get obsessed with criticizing him. Compliment him too.
- Be really nice.
- If making negative comments, try to offer constructive criticism, eg. 'I don't think that shirt suits you, perhaps you could try wearing...' and so on.
