Build a Mountain Bike Jump
Do you ever wish you had a mountain bike jump at home? Well now is your chance to build your very own jump to practice on whenever you like, or just to have a little extra fun. Follow the steps in this article to help you build your own jump!
Steps
- Take one of the 4x8 plywood boards and cut it to the size and shape of the ramp you want.
- Trace the shape on the other 4x8.
- Cut out the shape on the second board.
- Stand them up side by side {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} apart and sand them.
- Take both of the 2x4s and cut them into about 10 pieces {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} long each.
- Use nails or screws with one of the ten pieces and attach it at the bottom of the ramp.
- Take the other nine and attach them side ways on to the ramp going up.
- Cut the plywood the size of the ramp and drill the ends into the ends of the ramp.
Tips
- Cover the ramp when not in use.
Supplies needed
- 2 pieces of 4x8 plywood
- Screws or nails
- Hammer or screwdriver
- 2 2x4s
- Saw (electric skill saw)
- Place to build
- Sander
- Tape measure
Warnings
- Test your work. Make sure that you have a sturdy ramp before you ever attempt anything on your bike.
- Working with power tools can be dangerous. Make sure you know how to use the tools or ask for help. You should also wear safety glasses any time you work with power tools.
- Jumping anything on a bike can be dangerous. You should start with a small jump and work your way up.
