Copy Music from a CD to an iPod Touch

Do you have an iPod, but don't want to pay for songs on iTunes that you already have on CD? You can copy any of your music CDs to your computer in iTunes, and then sync those songs to your iPod touch. Best of all, it won't cost you a penny.

Steps

Copying the CD to Your Computer

  1. Insert the CD you want to copy into your computer. Close any windows that open when the disc is inserted.
  2. Start iTunes. If you don't have iTunes, you can download it for free from Apple's iTunes website.
  3. Click the CD button at the top of the iTunes window.
  4. Click "Options" → "Get Track Names" if iTunes doesn't automatically display the track names.
  5. Uncheck any songs you don't want to copy. By default, all of the songs will be checked.
  6. Click "Import CD".
  7. Leave the settings at their default. These settings will provide the best quality for your iPod.
  8. Click .. iTunes will begin copying the music from the CD to your computer.

Syncing the Music with Your iPod Touch

  1. Connect your iPod to your computer using its USB cable. You should see it appear in iTunes.
  2. Click your iPod's button at the top of the window. This will open the Summary screen for your iPod.
  3. Click the "Music" tab in the left sidebar. This will open your Music sync settings.
  4. Select "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres".
  5. Check the box next to the album you just copied from CD.
    • Make sure that everything else you want on your iPod is checked as well, as only the checked content will be copied to the iPod and everything else will be removed.
  6. Click the . to copy the album to your iPod Touch.
