Delete a Snapchat Account

This article teaches you how to permanently delete your Snapchat account using your computer or mobile device.

Steps

Using Your Mobile Device

  1. Open the Snapchat app. This is the yellow app with the ghost icon.
  2. Swipe down on your screen. When you do this from the camera page, it will bring up the main menu.
  3. Tap the gear icon. It is in the top right corner of your screen.
  4. Scroll down and tap Support. This is at the top of the fourth set of menu options.
  5. Tap My Account & Settings. It will be the third selection on your page.
  6. Tap Account Information. This menu will provide you with all of the changes you can make to your account.
  7. Tap Delete My Account. A new page will load with instructions for deleting your account.
  8. Tap the link to delete your account. It should be in blue on top of the word "Page.”
  9. Enter your password. You will need to enter your password to verify the termination of your account.
  10. Tap Continue. A page verifying that your Snapchat account has been deactivated will appear on your screen. Your Snapchat account will be deactivated for 30 days, and then deleted.
    • You can reactivate your account by signing in within 30 days.

Using Your Desktop

  1. Go to www.snapchat.com.
  2. Scroll down and click Support. You can find this under the “Community” heading at the very bottom of the page.
  3. Click My Account and Settings. This will be third selection in the menu options on the left side of the page.
  4. Click Account Information. This is the first selection on the menu. A new menu will appear after you select this.
  5. Click Delete My Account. A new page will load on the right side of your screen.
  6. Click on the link to delete your account. It should be in blue on top of the word "Page.” If you can’t find the link, click here to access the account deletion page.
  7. Enter your Snapchat username and password.
    • If you forgot your password, select the “Forgot My Password” option and follow the instructions sent to your email.
  8. Click the “I am not a robot” box. This will be under your login information. After checking the box, follow the verification prompt.
  9. Click Log In. This will load the account deletion page.
  10. Enter your Snapchat password. You will need to re-enter your password to verify the termination of your account.
  11. Click Continue. You will receive verification that your Snapchat account has been deactivated. Your Snapchat account will be deactivated for 30 days. After 30 days, the account will be deleted.
    • Log into your account anytime during the 30 day period to reactivate your account.
