Hammurabi's city, the city of Babylon had magnificient temples and palaces with winding, narrow straits lined up with private houses. Most of them had a courtyard with rooms around it. In the city walls were gates around which traders held markets. People used to enter the magnificient city through eight huge gates, which were made of bronze. The most magnificient one was the Ishtar gate, which was beautifully decorated with patterns and pictures of animals like lions, bulls and dragons.
