- Sometimes it is cheaper to pay for an album as opposed to purchasing each individual song.
- Connect your iPod to your computer.
- Attach your iPod to your computer's USB port. iTunes should recognize the device and show it in the left-hand bar under devices. Make sure your iPod has enough room to fit the new selections you wish to add.
- If you haven't set up your iPod yet, then iTunes will lead you through the process of setting it up.
- Click on "Music."
- Once you can see your iPod in your iTunes -- it will say "Megan's iPod" or whatever your name is -- you should click on the "Music" option. This will allow you to manage the music that you sync to your iPod from iTunes.

- You'll see two main options for how you will sync your songs to your iPod. Choose between these methods:

- Click "Apply."
- This will either sync your entire music library or your selected songs or playlists onto your iPod, depending on the option you chose. Wait for the music to download onto your iPod. Once the sync is complete, you can disconnect your iPod and enjoy your new music.

Downloading Music from the Internet
- Understand the risks of downloading.
- Downloading music is illegal in certain parts of the world. Most times your internet provider will only flag certain types of downloads as illegal. If you try this out, stay away from mainstream, popular music. This is the music the record companies have flagged.
- Once you've downloaded an illegal, flagged file, you'll probably receive a warning before legal action is pursued.
- Be selective of what you download.
- Again, don't download mainstream music if you're illegally downloading. Some people are very successful in downloading music off the internet and others aren't. The risks might just not be worth it in the long run.
- Record labels and internet providers have cracked down over the last several years.
- Use torrents.
- Torrents are easy to use but also easy to catch. If you are looking for an obscure artist from the 1960s then maybe torrents are a good choice. If you're torrenting the newest top 40 playlists, then you might be in trouble.
- You'll need an application to download the torrent for you.
- Search for a torrent using a torrent searching website.
- Open the torrent in the torrent downloading program. If you already have the application, then it should automatically open with this.
- Download .rar files.
- This method of downloading files is much safer then torrents, but they're also becoming harder to use. Search in your browser's search bar the name of the album you want to download, followed by ".rar" This will bring up a few websites, and you'll just have to filter through them until you find a link.
- You'll also need a zip file opening software. This comes standard on many newer computers.
- It can be easy to accidentally download a virus or spyware doing this technique.
- Use with caution.
- Transfer music to iTunes.
- Once you have the music downloaded onto your computer, import it into iTunes. Simply drag the file of music onto your iTunes icon. You could also right-click on the file and select import to application, and select iTunes.
- Connect your iPod.
- Attach your iPod to your computer's USB port. iTunes should recognize the device and show it in the left-hand bar under devices. Make sure your iPod has enough room to fit the new selections you wish to add.
- Drag music to your iPod.
- Now that everything is downloaded and connected, begin syncing your iPod. You can either sync your iPod, which takes automatically adds all your music, or manually manage your music.
- If you manually manage your music, click on the music you've downloaded and drag it to your device.
