Draw a Superhero

This tutorial will show you how to draw a superhero in three different ways.

Steps

Method One: Cartoon Superhero

  1. Draw an action line for the figure.
  2. Draw more details to fit in the body, such as an oval for the chest and a triangle to fit in the legs. Look at the picture to help.
  3. Draw circles for the face and palms, and rectangular shapes for the gloves. Draw a rectangular shape below the oval for a broad chin. Also draw guide lines for the hands.
  4. Add some ovals for the clouds.
  5. Start drawing the face with thicker outlines.
  6. Go ahead and draw out the hands and feet. Make the figure look muscular.
  7. Go over the clouds as well.
  8. Start coloring the drawing.
  9. Add some more color and details to the picture.

Method Two: Simple Superhero

  1. Draw the guide lines of the body with circles and ovals for the head and torso.
  2. Give the figure an action pose and then add guide lines for the hands and legs. Also add small circles for the knee joints.
  3. Add small circles for the elbows and add guidelines for the fingers.
  4. Draw the character with the help of the guidelines.
  5. Remove unnecessary lines and add more detail to the drawing.
  6. Start making the outlines darker and begin coloring the face.
  7. Add color to the body.
  8. Complete the coloring with curves of darker and lighter shades.

Method Three: Classic Superhero

  1. Sketch a wireframe to help draw the human figure and create a pose
  2. Choose and sketch a body type (e.g. light muscled, muscular, or extremely muscular)
  3. Sketch the hero's costume.
  4. Add a cape if needed and other accessories.
  5. Refine the sketch using a smaller tipped drawing tool.
  6. Draw the outline over the sketch.
  7. Erase and remove the sketch marks.
  8. Add color.

Method Four: An Armored Superhero

  1. Sketch a wireframe to create a pose for the human figure.
  2. Sketch the human figure based on the wireframe pose.
  3. Research about armors and sketch your design over the human figure.
  4. Sketch additional equipment and effects.
  5. Refine the sketch using a smaller tipped drawing tool.
  6. Draw the outline over the sketch.
  7. Erase and remove the sketch marks.
  8. Add color.
