Effectively Honk Your Horn

Utilizing your horn while driving is an important skill that everyone should know. Using horns effectively has the potential to save lives, prevent injury, and prevent damages to vehicles.

Steps

The Friendly Honk

  1. You see your friend walking down the street and you honk your horn to greet them. This is a friendly honk to let others know of your presence or say hello. This honk can also be used if you are stuck sitting at a green light to notify the driver in front of you to go.

Warning Honk

  1. This honk is used when you are in danger on the road. If a vehicle is threatening your safety honk to avoid an accident.

Correctional Honk

  1. If someone wrongs you on the road, give them a correctional honk to alert them that they have done wrong, so they can avoid making the same mistake again in the future.

Tips

  • Make sure to not overdo your honk unless the driver may kill you or put your life in danger.

Warnings

  • Some people do not respond well to honking. Be prepared for people to respond with road rage.
