Get a Summer Job if You Are Homeschooled

When you are homeschooled, you might have a hard time finding a job. This article will provide some suggestions to get around this and earn a few pennies.

Steps

  1. Volunteer. If you do not know many people other than relatives, volunteering is a good chance to demonstrate your work ethic and get some references. Volunteering looks great on your CV and could impress future employers.
  2. Network. Talk to everyone you come across, like the clerk at the grocery store, and the mailman. Tell them you are looking for a job, and ask if they can let you know if they see anything that comes up. If you have a phone, consider downloading apps that will alert you when job offers arrive in your area.
  3. Be persistent. It can be hard finding a job sometimes, whether you are homeschooled or not.
  4. Contact your state's labor office to see if you can get working papers. Most states will give them to home-schooled students, as long as you have a doctor's note saying you are in good health and a report card//status card showing that you have passed your most recent tests.
  5. Babysitting can be a wonderful job that is both off the books and you don't need work papers to do.
