Get a Summer Job if You Are Homeschooled
When you are homeschooled, you might have a hard time finding a job. This article will provide some suggestions to get around this and earn a few pennies.
Steps
- Volunteer. If you do not know many people other than relatives, volunteering is a good chance to demonstrate your work ethic and get some references. Volunteering looks great on your CV and could impress future employers.
- Network. Talk to everyone you come across, like the clerk at the grocery store, and the mailman. Tell them you are looking for a job, and ask if they can let you know if they see anything that comes up. If you have a phone, consider downloading apps that will alert you when job offers arrive in your area.
- Be persistent. It can be hard finding a job sometimes, whether you are homeschooled or not.
- Contact your state's labor office to see if you can get working papers. Most states will give them to home-schooled students, as long as you have a doctor's note saying you are in good health and a report card//status card showing that you have passed your most recent tests.
- Babysitting can be a wonderful job that is both off the books and you don't need work papers to do.
