Glorify God (Christianity)

The steps of a righteous man glorify the Lord as they are ordered by the Lord for generations, and He breaks generations of curses. The Lord will remember His own even to the End of Time and He is worthy of all glory. Glorify the Lord in your activities, in your ways -- but how does one do that?

Is this verbal praise -- no! It is God's will and His plan in action: actualized in all of us. It is our living out the good news in our flesh...

Steps

  1. Take the Good News: Go into the world--first outside your gate--and teach/preach the Gospel to every creature; thus you glorify the Lord.
  2. Lift up the Lord: Lift Him up on high. Exalt Him. Raise Him to dignity, honor and happiness. We lift up Jesus today when we exalt His Name, His person, and His work, grace, glory, and all that He is, which is endless! Jesus said, "If I be lifted up I will draw all mankind to me!"
  3. Bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. (Psalm 95:6)
  4. Worship the Father in spirit and in truth: [not in word or deed only] for the Father seeks such to worship Him. (John 4:23)
  5. Sing songs of his statutes in the house of your pilgrimage, and remember the name of the LORD, in the night, keeping His law. (Psalm 119:54,55)

And this command I give you, 'Love one another, even as I have loved you.'
  6. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto His name: and bring an offering when you come into His courts.
  7. Fear [revere] Him, in all your ways, and worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. (Psalm 96:8,9){The word "fear" used to mean "revere" in Hebrew, but over time the meaning of the word in our language has changed to "fear" or, "a feeling of terror." A god who wants you to find rest and refuge in him would never want us to fear him (2 Samuel 22:3, Matthew 11:28, Psalm 111:10)}
    • He is Unmoved: Unchangeable, undefeated Conqueror and Champion of saving souls that are called to repent.
    • He is a Healer: "He was wounded for our transgressions [trespasses], he was bruised for our iniquities [sins]: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes [whipping] we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)
    • He is First and Last: the Beginning and the End, the Creator and Keeper of your soul!
    • He is Architect: of the universe and Lord of all time; He always was; He always is and shall be.
  8. Magnify Him: Armies can't defeat Him; science can't explain Him, leaders can't ignore Him! God the Father of all Creation, His Son Jesus Christ and their Holy Spirit.
  9. Be Biblically Enlightened in Troubled Times in all your ways: New Age religion can't replace Him, and no one can ever explain Him away! So, give all honor to the Father, and the Son and to the Holy Spirit in all things good or ill--great or small.
  10. Avoid Sabotaging Your Success in Life (Christian): The Lord is the One who shelters his own and finds them precious. His eyes are upon them from early to late. His plan for his followers is a good plan never bad.
  11. Avoid Sabotaging Your Success in Life (Christian) in business, but do all things as to the Lord, and glorify Him. Jesus said, "What you do to the least of these my children, you do to me." Strengthen one another.
  12. Love others, especially fellow Christians: Loving others will testify to how authentic your faith is: "By this shall you know that you are my disciples, if you love one another!" Jesus said.
  13. Proclaim that Jesus Saves and that God is eternal -- and so He is outside of time constraints: God has no beginning and has no end.
  14. Be Happy. God is most glorified in you when you are most satisfied in Him.
  15. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)
    • Let your light shine: Follow Jesus example and teach people in the ways of God so that they can follow. "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path". (Psalm 119:105)
    • Do good works: Jesus example of good works was that He went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Jesus has empowered believers to go and do the same thing Believers will lay hands on the sick and they will recover (Mark 16:18)
    • Glorify God: The result of Jesus example was "when they saw the dumb speak, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing: and they glorified the God of Israel." (Matthew 15:31)
    • Seek the Lord with all your heart: So then you can follow Jesus' example "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:13) Then follow Jesus, no longer at a distance.
  16. Bring glory to God by receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
    • "And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning." (Acts 10:44-46 Acts2:4) "Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. In view of the fact that God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ -- then what was I, that I could withstand God? When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, 'Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.' " (Acts11:15:18)
    • So believers also should seek to get others (including themselves) baptized with the Holy Spirit as Jesus instructed his followers to do while he was here on earth.

Tips

  • Remember that when you glorify God, you're reflecting His glory, you're not really giving Him glory!
  • Learn to listen! How else would you be able to hear God's voice? Ask God to humble you so you can hear His voice. Get to know God in His Word so you can discern His voice. "Take heed that no one deceives you." (Mark 13:3)
  • It's good to fear/respect God, but unhealthy fear is not good. Remember that God is not a cruel God! Hate evil but love the sinner to bring glory to God.
  • Trust God: A Christian life is a supernatural life, a life that goes against the world of doubt and disbelief. Unless you trust on Him for grace, you will trust in your own resources, and eventually you'll fail.
  • He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare His generation for He was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was He stricken. (Isaiah 53:7,8)
  • He took your punishment: He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought as a lamb [peacefully] to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He opens not His mouth.

Warnings

  • "When you think that you stand beware lest you fall. Pride which will not allow you to glorify God leads to destruction and a haughty spirit goes before a fall." (1 Corinthians 10:12)
  • "The fool refuses to glorify God and even has said in his heart [from his core being]: 'there is no God.' " (Psalm 14:1)
    • "He shall be ashamed when he stands and is judged by the one just judge of all things, and persons great and small."
  • Be aware that as you glorify God "people will be surprised that you do not run with them into the same confusion and rioting, so they speak evil of you!" (1 Peter 4:4)
    • As an adult you may become self impressed, like you have finished growing, not allowing God or His followers to teach you to adapt to new things, i.e.: learn to use technology for God's plan.
    • You need to learn to shift into willingness to be like new, full of a new confidence, leaning forward toward the future, but not coming from your own deficit, but unified with other believers with God, not alone, not in your own strength.
  • You should not harm the innocent, but do good and not judge falsely: "And God, looking on the earth, saw that it was evil: for the way of all flesh had become evil on the earth." (Genesis 6:12)
    • God saw that it was not some people that chose evil or some nations but that all mankind were not only capable of but guilty of unacceptable behavior, evil and corruption. He gives each and every person of mankind free moral agency to do well and good as each one chooses. Then he provided a way of escape from the law of sin and death through Jesus Christ.
