Locate an Address when Driving
Getting from point A to point B is usually fairly easy, unless you don't know where point B is. This article will show you how to locate a known address while driving there.
Steps
Using Street Signs
- Determine where you are. The easiest way to do this is to find a smaller intersection with the two street signs on one corner. That gives you the numbers of the streets you are currently located at.
- Determine which direction you need to go. If you know where a major intersection to the destination is located in relation to you, go there. From there it will be easier to find the street it is on, and start in the direction of your destination.
- You will get to your destination! Watch the building numbers carefully as you approach, especially in residential areas. Usually, odd numbers are on one side of the street and even numbers are on the other.
Using a GPS
- Enter the address into your GPS machine or app of choice.
- Follow the turn-by-turn directions given to you.
Tips
- The street number method is easier in an area that you are already familiar with.
- There are 12 blocks in a mile.
Warnings
- Be careful using GPS. Often times, road work and other hazards are not updated in real time, which can cause delays or other issues.
