Make a Picture Frame from Plastic Straws
A nice greeting card, favorite picture, or sentimental postcard can be displayed easily using plastic straws to assemble a frame. This article will show you two methods: a traditional frame that goes around all four edges, and a basic frame that makes the picture stand up.

Steps
Frame
- Fold the corner of a square or rectangular piece of paper. Aim to get angle of 45° to use as reference later.
- Cut a straw into four pieces. Each piece should be the length of each side of the picture, plus a little extra (0.5mm).
- Flatten the pieces. Be careful to keep the folds straight.
- Cut all ends into angle of 45°. The longer ends should measure the length of the sides of the picture.
- Cut along the short side of the straw (the side that will be facing the picture).
- Slide around into the straw through the cut.
- Fit all four pieces together around the picture.
Hanging the Frame
- Cut the bendy part of a straw, with a little extra on each side.
- Cut a slit but only along the bendy part.
- Cut away everything but a sliver of the bendy part.
- Slide it onto the top piece of the frame.
- It's possible to make a hanger with 1 flex straw.
- Use the hanger to put up the picture.
Card Stand
- Put the bottom edge of the picture or card against the straw. Measure one corner from the bendy part and cut the straw at the other bottom corner.
- Cut a slit from the cut end to the bendy part.
- Insert a card in the slit. Bend the rest of the straw to the rear.
- Now you have a card stand!
Tips
- You can write the title by a work exhibition, and the menu of the booth by a school festival.
