Make a Valentine's Day Themed Pencil Jar

Do you need to find an easy and cheap Valentine's day themed craft to give to that special someone in your life? If you do, then keep reading this article to find out how you can make this quick, easy and inexpensive Valentine's day themed pencil jar that whoever receives it will definitely love.

Steps

  1. Obtain a jar to use. It should be tall enough to hold pencils, and skinny enough for all of them to be able to stand up inside the jar. Ideally, when put in, the ends of the pencils should be sticking out of the jar.
  2. Wrap a piece of white paper all the way around the outside of the jar. Tape or glue the paper down, making sure that there are no rips or lumps anywhere, as these can be unattractive to the person receiving the jar. If the paper is too large for the jar, then cut it with scissors to a more appropriate size.
    • If you would like to, you can cut the paper into a pattern of your choosing to help make the jar look fancier.
  3. Plaster any Valentine's Day themed stickers everywhere on the jar. Make sure that you space all of them out adequately.
  4. Utilize colored construction paper if you don't have any Valentine's Day stickers on hand. Colors such as pinks and reds are good colors to use, as they're some of the colors that are often associated with Valentine's Day.
  5. Cut various sized hearts out of more construction paper. Having them varying in size looks really pretty, as opposed to them all being the same uniform size.
  6. Glue down the hearts to the jar. Similar to the stickers, make sure that you space all of them out evenly.
  7. Write a special, sweet message on the jar, such as "Happy Valentine's day!" If you'd like, you can also draw additional pictures.
  8. Stick a bow of any color onto the jar. Try using the favorite color of the person who is receiving the jar.

Tips

  • If you have any, and if you think that it would go good on the jar, then sprinkle some glitter onto it.
  • Add in a few pencils to the jar for extra measure. What's the point of a pencil jar if the receiver of it has no pencils to put into it? If you'd like to be even more creative with it, you can use Valentine's Day themed pencils, which are typically found at various stores that sell pencils.

Warnings

  • If you're using a jar that was previously used for food, make sure to wash it thoroughly before you repurpose it into a pencil jar. The last thing that anybody wants for a gift for any occasion is a moldy jar, or one with crumbs on the bottom of it.
