Who was the Sargon of Akkad?
Very often, city states used to fight with one another over trade and border of the kingdoms. When one city became powerful enough to rule over others, it created a small kingdom to rule efficiently. Lagash and Ur are the examples of such states. Around 2375 B.C. Lugalzaggisi, the powerful ruler of Umma, defeated all the city states of Sumer including Lagash and ruled over them for the next 25 years. But, during those days, only from the North came a very powerful conqueror, known as the "Sargon of Akkad", the first great king in the history who created his own history by ruling Mesopotamia after defeating Lugalzaggisi. He was succeeded by Naram-sin, the fourth king ofAkkad.
