Draw a Hexagonal Prism

Do you want to learn how to draw a hexagonal-based prism? This article will teach you how to make any kind of prism easily!

Steps

Solid Prism

  1. Draw a hexagon.
  2. Add vertical lines.
    • For every visible corner, draw a straight vertical line.
  3. Finish the base.
    • Connect the end of the vertical lines to finish the prism base.
  4. You now have your solid prism.
  5. Color some details to make it look 3D.
    • Add some shadings and lighting.
    • Add a shadow opposite to your light source.

Transparent Prism

  1. Draw a hexagon.
    • This will be your hexagon’s top base.
  2. Add another hexagon.
    • The second hexagon will be your prism’s lower base. They should mirror one another.
  3. Connect the lines.
    • Connect each corner of the top hexagon to the bottom hexagon.
    • Knowing this technique will help you make 3D prisms of any figure.
  4. The final line art.
    • For added effects, make the lines on the back a bit lighter. They should look like they’re hidden from view.
  5. Color your prism.

Basic Hexagonal Prism

  1. Draw a polygon: this works with any shape you can think of like: a square, triangle, pentagon, octagon, hexagon or a decagon. A hexagon is used here.
  2. Draw an overlapping polygon, roughly the same size and shape. In fact, if you are in a computer drawing program just copy and paste your first shape right next to it.
  3. Connect all the corners of the first shape to the congruent corner of the other shape.

Tips

  • Color or shade in your image if you would like!
  • If you are not using a computer program, use a ruler
  • This works with any polygon you can draw -- including letters!

Warnings

  • This takes practice sometimes, so be patient and keep trying!

Things You'll Need
