Draw the Creeper from Minecraft

If you have ever played Minecraft, you would know that the Creeper is a formidable ambush creature! It explodes and destroys players and structures alike. Drawing the Creeper is very easy, just follow this tutorial.

Steps

A Traditional Creeper

  1. Draw a cube which oriented facing the left (or southwest) side.
  2. Draw a vertical rectangular box connected below the cube.
  3. Draw a smaller vertical rectangular box below the rectangular box in step 2. This box overlaps the box in step 2 a little.
  4. Draw another box the same as in step 3, at its left and overlaps the box in step 2.
  5. Draw another small rectangular box that overlaps the box in step 2, but situated higher than the boxes in step 3 and 4.
  6. Draw vertical and horizontal straight lines in the front-face of the cube – small squares are formed.
  7. Trace with a pen and erase unnecessary lines.
  8. Refine and color to your liking (shades of green for Creeper)!

A Cartoon Creeper

  1. Draw a front-facing cube and draw a smooth trapezoid at its left.
  2. Draw the rectangular shape below the cube using curve lines.
  3. Draw arcs at the bottom of the rectangular shape.
  4. Draw the rectangular blocks below the arcs using curve lines.
  5. Draw the details of the face using curve and smooth lines to form the eyes and mouth of Creeper.
  6. Trace with a pen and erase unnecessary lines.
  7. Refine and color the drawing as you like!

Creeper Body

  1. Draw a cube. For the head, draw a cube showing its lower side.
  2. Draw 3 stacking rectangular boxes for its body. Draw a big rectangular box with 2 more attached for its limbs.
  3. Add in the detail. Use 2 warped squares for its eyes and give it its signature mouth using straight lines. Also add the details on the lower boxes.
  4. Fill the drawing in with color. Use different shades of green. And there you have it, your very own Creeper.

Creeper Face

  1. Divide your paper into an 8 by 8 grid.
  2. On the 3rd and 4th row, fill in the boxes in the 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 7th column to make the eyes.
  3. Fill in the boxes at rows 6, 7 and 8, on the 3rd and 6th column for the frown of the mouth.
  4. For the mouth itself, fill in a box at the 4th and 5th column, rows 5, 6 and 7.
  5. Fill in the rest with a green color. And there you have it, a Minecraft Creeper!

Tips

  • Color lightly because if you make a mistake you are able rub it out easy and then color over harder.
  • Color the green first so the colors don't bleed.
  • Instead of having to draw the grid for the second method, you can simply use graph paper.
  • Draw lightly so when you erase there is no lines showing.
  • To copy the color of the Creeper in Minecraft, you have to use a grid and then add random shades of green.
