Draw an Impossible Cube with a Highlighter
Here is an alternative method for drawing "Escher's Impossible Cube" - a cube that could never exist in real life. This time we use a highlighter pen to make things easier. Let's begin!
Steps
- Using a highlighter, draw a wide diamond with each line using a 30 degree angle.
- Draw an equivalent diamond underneath. The bottom corner of the upper diamond should connect with the top corner of the lower diamond.
- Draw 4 vertical lines to connect each corner with their lower counterparts.
- Draw circles for each corner of the diamonds
- Draw outlines for the 4 vertical lines as shown in the image.
- Draw outlines for the 4 diagonal lines leaning to the right.
- Draw outlines for the 4 diagonal lines leaning to the left.
- Draw the remaining outer outline of the cube.
Tips
- Try to use colors that won't bleed or mix. Light colors often get stained by darker ones.
- To have a perfect shape you can use a ruler.
- You can try various color combinations.
- The thicker your highlighter, the easier it is drawing the outlines.
- If you want a completely transparent cube, you can use a soft pencil instead of a highlighter pen and then get rid of the pencil marks with a good eraser.
