Make the First Move As a Girl

Is someone you would like to consider dating/or are dating not taking control, and you want to move things a little faster? If so, read on...

Steps

  1. If you are inviting someone over (to watch a movie, for example), make sure that your family or roommates will give you some privacy.
  2. Choose a movie for the two of you to watch. You can go a few ways with your movie choice. Something you've both seen will make it more comfortable to interject comments and conversation, something boring will afford the same opportunity, something good neither of you has seen will be fun even if the kissing doesn't pan out.
  3. Have snacks! Avoid garlic, onions, spicy foods, and anything that would make you uncomfortable kissing someone.
  4. Make the room cozy. Put lots of cushions on the sofa and put a coffee table in front of it with the food.
  5. Look into the other person's eyes. Start smiling and look at his or her lips.
  6. Slowly come closer; you can try alternating your looking between his or her eyes and lips. At some point, this will become instinctual. Do what feels right to you.
  7. Tilt your head so you won't hit noses.
  8. If you make it this far, you've probably got it from here.

Tips

  • Brush your teeth, eat a mint, and make sure you feel good about yourself.
  • Base your hair style, make up, and clothing choices on whatever you're the most comfortable with. The better you feel about yourself, the easier this will be.
  • It might seem daunting to make the first move, but you can do it. Just remember to keep breathing and remind yourself how awesome you are.
  • Make sure the boy feels comfortable to kiss you.
  • Don't be afraid to break the touch barrier! Sit in the middle of the couch so you don't end up on opposite sides, hold his hand, touch his knee or arm, whatever you're comfortable with.
  • Make sure that when you kiss, nobody's gonna bust into the room. That could ruin the mood.
  • Talking about something you're both interested in will make conversation easier and flow more naturally. If you run out of things to say, just ask him or her about his or her day, plans for the weekend, how his or her classes were, even what he or she thinks of the weather. Small talk will inevitably lead to something bigger.
  • Having a few movie options will save the stress of picking a movie to watch by yourself.
  • Candles don't actually enhance the mood, neither does cheesy romantic music.
  • Don't overthink it too much, otherwise you will get nervous .
  • Be yourself! Everyone else is already taken!
  • Don't try to make everything to "perfect," because it will make him feel a little bit awkward.
  • If it's your diet time kissing, don't rush it. Try a peck, then if you guys continue, go with the flow!

Warnings

  • Be comfortable with yourself.
  • If someone thinks you're 'easy' because you made the first move, move on. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a girl making the first move, and anyone who thinks otherwise is probably going to hold some other harmful stereotypical values.
