Tell a Person You Like Them

Sometimes, being able to tell someone in the flesh that you like them can be tough. Follow these tips on how to do it without the added pressure of talking to them!

Steps

Leave them a note

  • This method may be best for shy people because you don't have to confront the person face to face.
  1. Make sure it is not the last day of school, such as a Friday or the day before Summer. Whatever the initial reaction, no doubt you will both want to be able to talk to each other after.
  2. Write them a note. You can do this either at school or at home. Be sure to sign your name so they know who the note is from. If they use a locker, you can try to get the note inside of the person's locker.
  3. Wait a few days for a reply. This may take a while, especially if the person is ill or on holiday. Don't worry if they don't respond straight away, they may be considering their own feelings.
  4. Read your reply. If the reply is mean, then that person probably isn't the right person for you anyway. If they ask to meet up, play hard to get and don't agree straight away. Just leave them another note, this time a little more flirtatious. After a few more replies, agree to meet up with them.

Other methods

  1. Tell the person face to face. This way you can get a reply straight away. It also means you can be sure that they understand exactly what you are saying and you can watch how they react.
  2. Tell them over the phone. It makes it easier to have a private conversation.
    • If you don't feel comfortable calling them then you're probably not that close. Leave it until you get to know each other better.

Tips

  • Make sure they actually use their locker. If they don't, then you should try another approach.
  • If you have a MSN Instant Messanger, ask them if they have one. This way you can talk, but not face to face. AIM or AOL is also good.
  • If you tell them face to face, ask them if you can go somewhere quiet and with nobody.
  • In your note include some way that they should responds. This could be by simply talking to you or replying with another note.

Warnings

  • Don't spend hours waiting, maybe they're just shy too!
  • Do not, put the note in front of their locker!
  • Make sure their friends don't find out you wrote them a note, or they could embarrass you.
  • If you're not already in a relationship with the person DO NOT say "I love you", even if that's how you feel. The other person might not be at that stage yet and you might scare them. Try "I really like you" or invite them out on a subtle date.
