Draw Ocean Waves
Throwing a party with an under the sea theme? Trying to draw a background for a dolphin or mermaid? You've come to the right place--in this tutorial you will learn how to draw different kinds of ocean waves.
Steps
Stylized Waves
- Draw two parallel lines and one circle. The lines should create a "road" that the circle is at one end of.
- Draw curved lines that intersect the parallel lines.
- Add curled lines roughly corresponding with the curved lines. The curled lines should be around the ends facing the circle.
- Connect the lines to create pointy tongues of water that curve up and around the circle.
- Add drops around the image.
- Erase excess lines.
- Color the drawing. Use many nuances of blue.
Alternate Method
- Draw two lines. The first one should be almost straight, but the one on the right should have some more curve to it.
- Add three curved lines. These will become the tops of waves.
- Draw three lines on the right wave to represent the current. Draw a line on the left wave to continue the top of the wave.
- Add more lines to represent the current. On top of the waves, draw squiggle lines for whitecaps.
- Add shading if desired.
- Erase unnecessary guidelines.
- Color the drawing.
