Draw a Celtic Plait

Steps

Draw a Celtic Plait Using Three Shapes

  1. Draw a thick outlined rounded rectangle vertically.
  2. Draw another rounded rectangle horizontally placed at the middle of the first one.
  3. Erase some of the lines along the intersecting areas to simulate the overlapping pattern as shown in the picture.
  4. Draw a thick outlined circle over the existing artwork.
  5. Erase some of the lines along the intersecting areas to simulate the overlapping pattern as shown in the picture.
  6. Add color to the artwork
  7. Add a background detail if necessary to emphasize the artwork.

Basic Celtic Plait

  1. Draw a square.
  2. Add extensions of equal length to each side.
  3. Add more extensions, making sure they line up with the previous lines.
  4. Add four 3-sided figures to form small rectangular blocks that line up with the original square.
  5. Add expanded versions to each of the 3-sided figures, which connect at the ends to form one continuous outside boundary line. That's it!
  6. Finished.
