Make a Watermelon Banana Split

A banana split is not only a delicious treat, it also fun to make. The most fun part is choosing the ingredients--aside from the bananas--to enhance the three scoops of ice cream. Make it with watermelon instead of ice cream, and enjoy a healthy twist to your Old Favorite.

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 bananas
  • Medium watermelon
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup diced fresh pineapple
  • 1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
  • 1/4 cup caramel fruit dip
  • 1/4 cup honey roasted almonds

Steps

  1. Peel bananas and cut in half lengthwise, then cut each piece in half.
  2. For each serving, lay two banana pieces against the sides of a shallow dish. You can find Banana Boats at most stores.
  3. Use an ice cream scooper and place three watermelon "scoops" in between each banana in each dish. Remove seeds if necessary.
  4. Top each watermelon scoop with a different fruit topping. Some people like blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, or even grape jelly!
  5. Drizzle caramel fruit dip over all. Sprinkle with almonds.
  6. Finished.
