My Minecraft Journey

My Minecraft Journey is an introductory course for educators wanting to learn how to use Minecraft: Education Edition in their classroom. The course includes eight lessons that walk you through how to get started using Minecraft: Education Edition in the classroom. The course focuses on using Minecraft: Education Edition as a teaching and learning tool with an emphasis on integrating the platform to support strong pedagogical practices. My Minecraft Journey also teaches basic mechanics of in-game play, such as: movement and placing and breaking blocks.

Learning Minecraft: Education Edition

Each lesson in the course includes the following sections:

  • Explore & Discover: Participants explore resources related to the lesson’s content—including articles, videos, infographics, whitepapers, etc.
  • Try & Apply: Participants put ideas into practice through completing challenges both out-of-game and in-game
  • Reflect & Share: Participants reflect on their learning from the lesson and share takeaways and questions with the Minecraft: Education Edition community
  • Quiz: Participants take the lesson quiz to check their understanding and work toward earning badges

While taking the My Minecraft Journey course, you will want to capture your thoughts, reflections, and work in a Course Notes document of your choosing. This can be handwritten, digital, or on any platform you prefer. You will be asked to add and refer back to this document throughout the course.

Estimated completion time: 10 hours (includes in-game practice)

If you pass each quiz from Lessons 1-8 in order, you will be awarded four “mini-badges.” Upon completion of all 8 lessons, you can take the My Minecraft Journey Final quiz (on the course Overview page) and earn the Minecraft: Education Edition Certified badge and a course certificate for 10 hours (8 hours for lessons + 2 hours for in-game practice).
