Enjoy Life As a Teen

The "best years of your life"? Maybe not, but you can learn to make the most of your high school days.

Steps

  1. Learn to Truly Appreciate Every Single Second small things. Whether it's Have Fun on a Computer, Deal With Having Few Friends, having a good supply of food, a bed to sleep on, family that loves you, having a decent education or simply being born in this world. Remember that the point of life is for you to enjoy it. Be happy, and life will reward you. Remember that these are the last few years you will be able to enjoy yourself without having to worry about the responsibility of an adult, but make sure you prepare yourself for when you do become one. When you actually become an adult, you'll learn to love that responsibility and you probably never want to go back.
  2. Choose your friends wisely. Unlike what many articles state, you don't have to be popular and have a gazillion friends to be happy. In fact, many of the "friends" you have when you are popular are not true friends. Try to have friends that like you who you are, not just because you are wearing a certain brand of shoes or something like that. These are people who shop at the same store as you; not someone who will sympathize with you when your dog dies.
  3. Play a sport or work out. Having a healthy body leads to a healthy and happy mind. Being confident in your appearance makes you more confident in other areas.
  4. Be Be Sociable. Participating in clubs, Win in Sports, Activities, or Games, and sports increases your chances of meeting new friends. While you only need 4 or 5 close friends, that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to meet new people. Participating gives you something to do instead of sitting bored at home and wallowing in self-pity.
  5. Go for it! If you have a special girl/guy you want to ask out, dance with, etc. just ask! You probably won't be rejected but if you are, remember that there will always be someone else that likes you for who you are. Don't go to sleep that night wishing you would have asked them. About 90% of the girls or guys you talk to will like you back, only about 10% probably will reject or badmouth you.
  6. Keep your grades up. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing your hard work pay off in the form of A's and B's (but mainly A's). This also sets you up to get into a college you want to go to, which in turn prepares you for a career you will enjoy, improving your quality of life in the future. You'll get cheap car insurance as well if you have at least a B or A average.
  7. You can pursue interests you enjoy. Video games, for example, are good if you're the type who can get into that kind of thing. You should also find a hobby that is meaningful or Play a Good Practical Joke. Use your "hobby time" to either A) Volunteer (to gain practical skills for college apps, job resumes, and scholarships) B. Learn an instrument, or get into something else in the creative field like painting or dance, because this is the time to start developing and uncovering passions that might otherwise lie dormant.
  8. Work at a job you can enjoy. Working is a great way to Gain Experience and to meet other people. When you do get out of college, interviewing companies will look at your prior work Measure Customer Experience. This will look great on your resume. If you can't find work, especially in this hard economic time, volunteer or make your own job.
  9. Do your best at everything so you can be proud of everything you do. But remember to give yourself a break when you fail.
  10. Life is too short to wake up in the Enjoy Early Morning with regrets. You always regret the things you don't do.
  11. If you are not Be Good at Sports join a band orLead a Choir. You'll still be going to Games for free like the jocks if you are in pep band, and you have as many Obtain Speaking Opportunities in Trade Shows to meet new people as the jocks. Band and choir sometimes involves going on trips, and are great memories to have for high school and college. If you are not good at either music or sports, you can join other activities, start other hobbies, or get a job.
  12. Do well in school. Even though you want to enjoy your teen life as best as possible, don't slack off in school. It will pay off in the end. Plus, doing well means no angry parents.
  13. Plan something in the future. By doing this you will always have something to look forward to. If you're feeling down, if you have something to look forward to, then it will help pull you through this tough spot and get you excited about the future.

Tips

  • Smile as much as you can! You won't get through these Celebrate New Years Alone easily without being content. Find yourself and who you are and be happy about it!
  • Be yourself. It's no fun pretending to be someone else. Instead, make yourself better.
  • Don't worry about what others have to say about you. Their opinions don't matter and only come from a source that doesn't know you.
  • If you find something interesting and enjoy doing it, you will get better at it. This comes in useful later in life.
  • Find things which excite you. It might be a sport, an academic subject, or the works of an author/movie maker. Find ways to relate the things which interest you to your life. Being able to relate things to your interests/passions will help you to, eventually, enjoy everything which you do.
  • If you are more of an introvert and want to have more confidence around people, set goals to become more open. For example, contribute to class discussions, start a conversation with someone, etc.
  • Organizing and prioritizing your life will get rid of so much stress. Get a calendar, PDA, or anything. Seeing your life laid out will let you see how much you really can do.
  • It sounds cheesy, but enjoy your schoolwork. If there's something which you don't understand, then instead of trying to re-read your notes, ask somebody who is knowledgeable and passionate about that subject. Even if the subject doesn't completely interest you, talking with somebody who is excited about it will help you to understand it better. Perhaps you will also find it interesting.
  • Just have fun and don't stress!
  • If you want to change your style of dress, don't be afraid to do it. People will notice but they won't find it "Avoid Strange People" or "weird"; in fact, they usually notice a lot less than you'd Expect Beyond Hope.
  • Don't worry about things and just go for it!
  • Although a job is great for money, don't work too much if you can avoid it. You will never have any time for fun with your friends
  • Don't try to live up to anyone's but your own. If your parents think a B+ is a test grade, work harder next time but don't get wigged out about it.
  • There are all sorts of articles on how to be more confident, look at them for ideas but do not follow just one.
  • Remember, school is like a job and your grades are like your money.
  • Use this rule when you start worrying about how others will view you: If you saw someone looking like or acting like you, how would you think of them? Most of the time, you'll surprise yourself by realizing most people don't judge you as harshly as you judge yourself.
  • Smile, it makes you feel better!
  • Respect your teachers and thank them for their work.
  • Always smile, and don't forget be yourself.
  • Spend time with your family members. You never know when you'll wake up and find that they're not there anymore.
  • Try to make as many friends as possible.
  • Make yourself happy, encourage yourself and others and be positive!
  • Enjoy being a teenager for as long as you can. Make a journal or scrapbook and put all of the memories in it. When you are an adult, you will be able to remember all of the great memories. Remember, You're only young for a short time, so focus on being teenager. You will be an adult soon. Enjoy your life and be confident!
  • Don't feel as if you need to please other people to be happy. Yes, be sociable, but always remember that true happiness still depends on yourself. People may leave you, people may hurt you, so you have to protect yourself by being independent.
  • One of the most important things is that don't compare yourself to another person.

  • Don't Become a Rush Fan for Life into sex. Just because you think everyone is doing it, does not mean you should, rushing into things like sex can just lead to depression.
