Not Fall Too Hard for a Guy

Do you find yourself falling for guys quickly and getting your heart broken often? This guide should help you learn to keep your heart to yourself and only give it to someone you love at the right time. These steps are here to help you out when you think you've found "the one" or just someone who simply catches your eyes.

Steps

  1. Keep it to yourself. When you see a guy you think you really like, don't tell anyone for at least a few weeks until you're sure that you have feelings for him.
  2. Avoid forgetting that guys have their flaws too. As amazing as they seem compared to you, everyone has something wrong. Don't forget if he ever makes you cry or if he says something mean. Everyone makes mistakes, but this will stop you from falling head over heels.
  3. Find out who he really is. Looks aren't everything. First, be-friend him, or at least talk to him and see if he's worth falling for. Has he had a girlfriend before? Why/why not? Why didn't it work out? Or does he still have a girlfriend? You should definitely back off if they're taken. This could lead to a horrible situation.
  4. Keep your eyes open. He's not your boyfriend! You're still allowed to like other guys too. Make sure you have plenty of back-up crushes. This way, your heart won't be too occupied with just one boy.
  5. Take it slow. What's the rush? Don't simply blurt out your feelings for him. Slowly send out signals that you're interested. Coming on too strong will just freak him out.
  6. Flirt! Flirt with who you like, who you really like, or anyone else. Flirting with different people will keep your heart distracted and it's a fun way of telling someone you could be interested.
  7. After getting to know him well enough, go for it! Tell him how you feel. If he doesn't return the feelings then it's his loss. If he does, mention that you'd like to go on a date.

Tips

  • Be yourself. He'll like you better. -And if he doesn't like who you are, then why would you want to go out with someone who won't let be yourself when you're around him?
  • When feelings for a guy start to get too strong, distract yourself with a new hobby and don't stay near him too much. But don't totally ignore him or he'll get confused from the mixed signals you're giving him.
  • Don't have "backup crushes" or flirt with a ton of people. Then you'll have crushes on other people if one of them works out!

Warnings

  • Flirting too much with every guy you know is not a good idea. It will just make people think you're a player and don't know how to stick with just one person.
  • Never come on too strong. That will only make your feelings stronger, and the guy's feelings about you weaker.
  • If he's not interested, just move on. Trying to get him to like you back or changing yourself for him will never work.
  • Also don't become to good friends otherwise when you tell him you like him, things could start to get a little sticky.
  • Don't be too shy around him. Speak up, be yourself. If you're too shy for a simple conversation then why would he want to date you?
