Make a Pumpkin Smoothie
Pumpkins are good for other treats, but most of us only make pumpkin pies from them. For a change try making an altogether different concoction. This mild but sweet beverage will give you another reason to love the fall season.
Contents
Ingredients
- 1 sugar pumpkin
- 2 cups milk or cream
- 1 cup apple cider
- 1-3 tablespoons sugar
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 5 apple slices
- 20 banana slices
- Chocolate syrup (optional)
- Rum (optional)
Steps
- Prepare the pumpkin. Cut the top off of the pumpkin. Scoop out all the seeds with an ice cream scoop.
- Bake. Cut the pump in half, bake with sliced sides down in a shallow pan at 375 degrees for 1.5 hours, or microwave on high for 7 minutes per pound. You can also cut up into cubes and boil - this makes it unnecessary to peel a raw pumpkin - a very difficult process.
- Make the smoothie. Scoop out cooked pumpkin.Throw them into the blender with the milk, apple cider, and other spices and ingredients for more taste.
- Pour in a cup. Pour yourself a cup, curl up next to your fireplace (or at least a fireplace screen saver), and enjoy!
- Finished.
Tips
- Mix it with coffee for some pumpkin spice caffeine.
- Drink it hot or cool, topped with whipped cream.
- Throw in just a splash of rum to pack a punch.
