Say Hello to Somebody You Are Attracted To

Saying hello to somebody new that you are attracted isn't always easy. This guide will help you to get from seeing a nice looking person on the street to exploring the potential for a relationship. Everything has to start somewhere, and a simple "hello" can be the that start. Read on from step number one below.

Steps

  1. Be where they are. So you've seen her/him around a couple of times and want to get to know each other a bit better, maybe a lot better. What do you do? Well, the first step is to sit next to him or her or hang out around them in the places where you see them.
  2. Try to make eye contact. This is an essential step. Making eye contact lets the other person know that they are interesting to you. When you do make eye contact, smile and give a little wave. If he/she smiles and waves back, you're pretty much set. Look away for a little while and look back again. If you can make eye contact again, and he/she is smiling, its smooth sailing from there.
  3. Start a conversation, say "hello". Talk about something you have in common (a book they're reading, the location, etc.) or ask them where they're from. Another good conversation starter is a simple compliment. Find something he or she is wearing and compliment them, or tell them that his/her hair looks nice. Use what the other person has to start conversation (i.e. if he/she is listening to an iPod, spark a conversation about music).
  4. Ask him or her out. Ask her on a date to the movies or to dinner at a restaurant. Keep it simple and easy. It might be suitable to not even call it a date.
  5. If you think it's appropriate, after you've been on a few dates, and you feel your partner reciprocates your feelings for them, take them to a place that is a little more special then the places you normally go on your dates, a nice restaurant, or for a romantic dinner at your place. After, give him/her a little gift, something special that you think they'll like.
  6. If you have got this far the rest you should do guided by your own instincts. Good luck!
  7. Buy them something you THINK they might like. It tells them you think about them in more than a superficial way, perhaps something that they mentioned from before to let them know that you remember what they said. Otherwise, you look desperate and is only looking for attention. A kind gift tells them that you look for a friendship and possibly more, much better than a superficial relationship. Who knows? Maybe you might get more affection than if you give him/her too much attention.

Tips

  • Don't be too forward, it will make the situation awkward and uncomfortable.
  • Don't ask her to marry you on the first date. It never works.
  • Don't drone on, or constantly complain, about your ex(es). Your date doesn't want an evening of negativity.
  • If you make eye contact, and the person doesn't respond positively (smiles, waves, smiles with their eyes) then look elsewhere. As the saying goes, there are plenty of fish in the sea.

Warnings

  • Don't act desperate to be closer or you'll risk scaring them away from you!
  • Do your best not to blush or start laughing after you say hello. Act totally casual and make sure you look directly into their eyes.
  • Don't stutter, this will show that you are shy, not confident
